This series consists of correspondence, memorandums and other records relating to organizational activities, cultural and educational programs, and U.S. Information Agency (USIA) operations in Latin America. It contains records pertaining to Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, British West Indies, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad, Uruguay, Venezuela, and the West Indies. Included are memorandums, correspondence, incoming and outgoing telegrams and airgrams, radio broadcast reports, budget reports, financial statements, briefings, circulars, handbooks, press releases, pamphlets, newsletters, inspection reports, and copies of newspaper clippings and magazines. Topics covered include communist propaganda activities, labor and economic information activities, television and radio broadcasts, and the recruitment and operations of the Peace Corps. Included are communications relating to binational center programs, Latin American book translation programs, Public Affairs Office (PAO) conferences, Alliance for Progress program, Voice of America radio broadcasts, student exchange programs, Operation UNITAS, English language instruction programs, Country Analysis Strategy Papers (CASP), Country Plan Program Memorandums, and the US Space Program. Some of the documents are in Spanish.

The 1964 Democratic National Convention of the Democratic Party, took place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey in August 1964. President Lyndon B. Johnson was nominated for a full term. Senator Hubert H. Humphrey of Minnesota was nominated for vice president. The convention took place less than a year after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas.
